  2. My Dad was at both Stalag XXA and Stalg XXB as many were. He did the "Long March" and was liberated luckily by the Americans. The Officer in command (who was a bit drunk) lined up the German guards, who had all buried their uniforms to look like "civvies", offering a machine gun saying "Any of these guys give you grief?" Nobody took him up on the offer! Dad was flown back in the Lancaster in front of the one that crashed in Northern France killing everyone onboard. "Operation Exodus" I believe it was called.

  3. i am sure the man on the left of last photo is my late dad Wilbur O`Brian Lawrence known as GI JOE because he was born in America but lived later in Dundee he joined up before the yanks entered the war and only got his call up papers from them after that was given the choice stay i british armed forces or he could transfer to US he choose to stay, he was in Stalag XXA work group 119
